How Photon Works

PHOTON is created through a burn mechanism: users send ATONE tokens to a dedicated x/photon module, which permanently destroys them and mints PHOTON at a conversion rate determined by protocol law.

This process is irreversible — once ATONE is burned, PHOTON cannot be converted back. The conversion rate adjusts dynamically based on the current supply of both tokens.

All transaction fees across AtomOne's root and core shards, as well as all Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) and Interchain Security (ICS) payments, must be paid in PHOTON.

PHOTON has a non-inflationary design. It can only enter circulation through the burning of ATONE, meaning no new PHOTON is ever created out of thin air.
